Our hearts are making
room for Charlie.
We’re growing our family through adoption, and we’re grateful to have you walking alongside us.
Making room for one more
We’re Jason and Andrea Barnett. This October, we’re celebrating 14 years of marriage, and we’re parents to Simeon, our sweet, silly little boy who turns four in January.
Life in our home is full of laughter, music, dancing, and bedtime books. Simeon is gentle and playful, with a gift for making us laugh—whether he’s making faces or singing songs to himself. We love our everyday moments together: family lunches, evenings at home, and church followed by Costco and In-N-Out.
We had talked about adopting again. We wanted more children, but financially, we couldn’t see how it would be possible. There was real grief in that. Over time, we had begun making peace with being a family of three.
Then, on October 13, a text arrived from Simeon’s birth mom. She had something she wanted to run by us. As the conversation unfolded, she shared that she was going to give birth to another baby and asked whether we would adopt him.
Our first response was shock and overwhelm. We prayed, talked, and asked difficult questions. Was this a step God was inviting us to take? Could we take on the responsibility? We didn’t feel a clear direction at first, so we sought counsel from people we trust. Through those conversations, we decided to move forward in faith, even without having every answer.
His birth mom named him Charlie Daniel. We thought it was sweet, and keeping the name she chose felt like a meaningful way to honor her.
The process is still unfolding, and the outcome isn’t certain. For now, we’re working through the preparations one step at a time. But we’re beginning to picture what life could look like: Simeon and Charlie growing up together, two boys filling our home with even more laughter, noise, and love.
The financial commitment is significant. We’ve already paid both agency fees in full, with attorney fees, cradle care, and travel still ahead. We’re sharing these costs openly so you can understand what this journey involves and how your support would help.
If you’d like to walk alongside us, we would be grateful for a personal gift, something from our baby registry, a shared link, or your prayers. Thank you for caring for our family as we take these next steps.
